Pronunciation: /ˈnɛg.ə.tɪv/ Explain
The negative of a number is the
number with the sign changed. The negative of 5
is -5. The negative of
-3 is
--3 = 3. The negative of
x is -x.
The negative of -x is
--x = x. A
double negative is the negative of a negative.
The double negative of x is
--x = x.
A negative
number
is a number whose value is less than zero. Two examples of negative
numbers are -1, -5.5.
